Default First time out with the new intake ends in winners circle!

Went to Capitol Raceway Fri. night for our first 10.5 points race this year and with the new combo. We tested Ralphs car all day friday with the help of Marc Hayes tuning on it and Steve on the phone. We ended the day winning the 10.5 class using 2 SMALL kits of 3. Never even turning the third on! There is still ALOT left in it. Thanks Steve. Here are a few pics.

Friday and Saturday turned out to be pretty decent at Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY. My brother Shane had Buffalo Sabres playoff tickets so I ended up going on Friday night without him to get a couple shakedown runs with the Booger. It was getting late when we finally put the spray to it. The 1st pass I didn't have the pedal down all the way and wasn't on the WOT switch till the 100' mark or better. The car went 10.1 @ 147 mph with a 200 shot in the plate. I made a small switch adjustment and went back out. The car spun real bad as the track temp dropped to nothing. Outside temp was around 40 degrees. 60' was a tenth slower than normal at 1.37 and the car hopped on the tight suspension as it was trying to grip the track. Anyways the car laid down a 9.12 @ 149.65 through the progressive controller.
Saturday Shane came with his new car and the track was crazy sticky.
We decided to run the Calypso 1st but of course BOTH timing lights I had with me were not working so I had to guess at his timing. 1st pass was 12.38 @ 107, pulled some timing and went 12.22 @ 108, then 12.19 @ 108.6.
After I got the timing where I wanted it Shane changed out the plugs and I put a 46 nitrous jet in it (about 75 to 80 RWHP). The car chattered the tires out of the hole but surprisingly picked up 1.12 seconds and 12 mph to run a 11.07 @ 120mph. The 60 ft's leave a lot to be desired and the driveshaft was hitting the safety loop and tore it up pretty good. So really I just need to fix that and we can work on the weight transfer.
The Booger had the opposite result. I made a timimg change on the car and in the process of testing the nitrous system, being without my timing light, I didn't test my timing being pulled by the MSD which I always do. Well, 2/3's down the track I heard a stumble and quickly lifted. I pulled the plugs at the end of the track and all the electrodes were now stubs LOL. No engine damage but lesson learned. We put that car away and started working on Shane's. We will be back out testing soon and overall was a good weekend.
Here are 2 short videos.
And Steve, I'll be calling you for a smaller shot on the fogger. I'm not sure I want to start with 26/28 jets for a 2nd stage LOL

GREAT JOB GUYS, AND TO STEVE @ I-S.

The last time I was at Capital, I watched the Cavalcade of Funny Cars there, and it was my first race as a kid to attend, and I will never forget it. From what I remember about door cars was this, an open trailered big rig pulled in and unloaded 6-7, ALL ORANGE race cars, and they were called "The Wild Pumpkin Bunch" and did they put on a show 1969 I believe was the year and I remember the Red White & Blue F/C of Bruce Larson, the U.S.A.1 Camaro, and Junbgle Jim, and others, what a night it was.

Congrats to you all for your hard work and patience on taking the win, you all deserve it.

Elkyman
John
