Default Spark Plug tutorial ??

Hey Steve...or any others on the forum, can we get a thread with Plug pics in it? Something to educate guys like me?? Steve you told me about the "texture" on the strap and i looked at some plugs that came out of form my "overtimed, under fueled" passes, and i see exactly what your talking about.

So can you find the time to throw up some plug pics?? and What to look for and what to adjust ( Timing and fuel wise)

Thanks

n20 mstr,

I am having some problems getting some plug pics up, but go to the EFI/Elec. section here, look at my thread on top about spark plugs and follow the link, there is some very good pictures on that post and I can't for the life of me get them on here,HELP SOMEONE!!!

You will see some great info along with the pics. I just downloaded it all on my pc and will print it all out later on. I also baught a cd and the plug tool to read them and what a deal that is, good explaination of the heat range, fuel setting and some help with timing as well. Good stuff to read and look at. I will keep trying to get some pics up here too again.

John

The top two look like they still have a little fuel that could be cleaned up ?? But also need to watch the timing as you lean it down as it looks as though the timing is starting to turn the corner of the bends...

The next 4 NGK's look like there a little uneven on there fuel as well as the timing marks need to be equaled out. This can be done by the jetting in that cylinder or with individual cylinder timing...

Just a little of my two cents... SJ

Just wondering, on the pic with the four plugs lined up, the one farthest to the left looks like a different heat range plug?

Those were actually my plugs. I don't know why that one plug is different.....

I have a LOT of -9's which is what I usually run all the time. I have dabbled with -10's once in awhile, but found they were too cold for my small kit.

I have also used Autolites when I was out of -9's.

Good eye there sir! These plugs were from my first hits with the Direct Port with .018's and maybe .020's when I was trying to determine how much fuel to add through the ECM at the time.
